Sarah Korneisel Jaegers, DMA Clarinet

Hailed as a "master of her instrument" and praised for her "rich and warm interpretations" (The Clarinet), Dr. Sarah Elizabeth Korneisel Jaegers has a strong interest in world music, expansion of the clarinet repertoire, and diversification of the canon, particularly through the promotion of works by Turkish composers. A solo, chamber, and orchestral clarinetist and music educator based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Dr. Jaegers is on the clarinet, saxophone, music theory, and piano faculty at the Albuquerque Institute of Music (in person) and Amabile School of Music (online) and maintains an active private studio. Previously, Dr. Jaegers was the Clarinet Teaching Artist and lead teacher at Enriching Lives Through Music (San Rafael, CA), a Mentor Artist and Music Specialist with Youth In Arts (San Rafael, CA), and taught in person at Amabile School of Music (San Francisco and Moraga, CA) and Notes Music Academy (Oakland, CA). She currently performs as principal clarinet of the Rhode Island Recording Ensemble (RIRE), Latin quartet Araya, and the DesertLake Duo, and performs with Bay Area ensembles including the Fresno Philharmonic, Santa Cruz Symphony, and Berkeley Playhouse. Previously, Dr. Jaegers was principal clarinet of the Golden Gate Park Band (San Francisco, CA) and performed with the Walla Walla Symphony Orchestra (Walla Walla, WA), the Mid-Columbia Symphony Orchestra (Richland, WA), and the Tri-Cities Big Band (Kennewick, WA).
Dr. Jaegers serves as President of RIRE and is a clarinet clinician for the San Francisco Lesbian/Gay Freedom Band. Since 2017, she has commissioned six new works for clarinet (as well as numerous new arrangements with Araya), by composers including Zachary Friedland, Francisco Javier de Alba, Jacob Lee, and Manuel Hurtado Dueñez. An international performer since 2011, Dr. Jaegers has toured in countries throughout Europe. She frequently performs and presents at the International Clarinet Association's ClarinetFest® and the American Single Reed Summit and is an audio and music reviewer for the ICA's journal, The Clarinet.
Dr. Jaegers maintains an active private studio and has taught private clarinet lessons since 2013. Her students have consistently received the highest ratings at Solo and Ensemble festivals.
