Biography

Dr. Sarah Elizabeth Korneisel Jaegers is a solo, chamber, and orchestral clarinetist and music educator based in the San Francisco Bay Area in California. She is a faculty member at Amabile School of Music in Moraga and Notes Music Academy in Oakland, as well as a Mentor Artist and Music Specialist with Youth In Arts. She currently performs as principal clarinet of the Golden Gate Park Band, the Friedland Recording Ensemble (formerly the Rhode Island Recording Ensemble), the DesertLake Duo, and the Diablo Big Band. She also performs regularly with other Bay Area ensembles. Since 2017, she has commissioned three new works for clarinet by late composer Zachary Friedland. An international performer since 2011, Dr. Jaegers has toured in countries throughout Europe. She frequently performs and presents at the International Clarinet Association's ClarinetFest®, and is an audio reviewer for the ICA's journal, The Clarinet. She has a strong interest in world music, expansion of the clarinet repertoire, and diversification of the canon, particularly through the promotion of works by Turkish composers.

Dr. Jaegers has taught private clarinet lessons since 2013 and her students have consistently received the highest ratings at Solo and Ensemble festivals. Many have gone on to play in college bands and pursue a career in music. She holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Clarinet Performance from The Ohio State University, a Master of Music degree in Clarinet Performance from Michigan State University, and two degrees—a Bachelor of Music degree in Clarinet Performance and a Bachelor of Arts degree in World Languages and Cultures (Spanish)—from Iowa State University. Her principal teachers include Dr. Caroline Hartig, Dr. Guy Yehuda, and Dr. Gregory Oakes. Other teachers include Nicola Bulfone, Eddy Vanoosthuyse, Dr. Robert Spring, Dr. Deborah Bish, and Carey Bell.  She has performed in masterclasses for distinguished clarinetists including Daniel Ottensamer, Elsa Ludewig-Verdehr, Håkan Rosengren, and Walter Seyfarth.
